State of the world: is there a way to get to Earth?

State of the world: misy raha the earth
Everyone has their own worries

Huh? Oh yeah, I was having a lovely, quiet, easygoing Friday, with a political but good-natured atmosphere

… I come home and what do I discover? That Israel has opened a new war front, against Iran this time. And that in response, Iran has launched hundreds of missiles at Israel.

I… no, nothing? If there’s something to say, right? And there’s no point in hiding, we’re all worried about this new escalation.

Covid-19 already… then the post-Covid consequences, with the global economy struggling to restart. The war in Ukraine looming. Then this Israeli-Palestinian escalation… then the election of the outrageous US leader…

… and now this new Israeli-Iranian escalation 😳

Those who know the history of Israel (and the Jews) know what this entire people has been through. And they fully understand their determination to defend themselves against anything that could pose a threat to the very existence of the Jewish state.

And in fact, they don’t bother with the swearing: you’re a threat, you must be eliminated. Period. That’s how it is.

And unfortunately, war isn’t pretty. The priorities are certainly military, but civilians are caught in the crossfire, with the immense collateral damage we know about.

And unfortunately, a war in the 21st century isn’t limited to two belligerents. Other nations are obliged to take a position… and must even provide support to one or the other of the belligerents.

And that’s where the trouble unfortunately begins. You help Israel defend itself… that de facto means you’ll alienate the entire Arab world. Tay be, eh?

The most cowardly (follow my gaze) opt for a “non-aligned” position. Neither for one nor the other. But hey… not taking a position… does that mean not supporting? The belligerents will remember that when the time comes.

As I write this column, we can also see what’s happening in Los Angeles.

Read: In Los Angeles, residents live with fear in their stomachs: “It’s terrifying, what they’re doing.”

Raids that are, unfortunately, reminiscent of humanity’s darkest hours.

This withdrawal, this xenophobia, even this racism, like what’s also happening in Ireland, is intense!

In short, misy raha la terre indeed. The Covid-19 crisis seems to have made everyone completely crazy, and we wake up every morning wondering once again what they’ve come up with overnight.

Come on, don’t let that stop us from continuing our little fiainana tsotra, milamina, and mirindra 🙂

And the little prince is doing well, he exceeded his birth weight yesterday and the world can continue to go to hell, it won’t erase these simple joys of life. Have a good weekend and happy father’s day to all the happy fathers. And thoughts also to those who are no longer here.
