Today, we’re going to talk about a small revolution happening under the Madagascar sun: the arrival of Starlink!

I had the opportunity to test the service from start to finish, from ordering to installation and, of course, performance, and let me tell you, it’s a real breath of fresh air for the Red Island.

Ordering: Simplicity online

First step: ordering. I was a little apprehensive, wondering if the logistics would be complicated all the way to Madagascar.

Well, surprise! Everything was done online, incredibly smoothly on the Starlink website. A few clicks, the delivery information, and hey presto, my order was placed.

The tracking was impeccable, and I was kept informed of every step, from the warehouse to its arrival in Madagascar.

Frankly, for such advanced technology, the simplicity of ordering is a real plus!

Installation: Child’s Play (or almost)

Once I received the package—a complete and surprisingly compact kit—it was time to move on to installation.

And here’s Starlink’s second strong point: it’s designed to be simple.

No need to be a network expert or a seasoned DIYer. The kit includes the dish (affectionately nicknamed “Dishy”), its mount, a router, and the necessary cables.

The hardest part was finding the ideal spot for the dish, with a clear view of the sky.

Once the spot was found, assembly was intuitive: you attach Dishy to its mount, connect the cable to the router, and the router to a power outlet.

The dish automatically orients itself to receive the satellites. In less than an hour, my station was up and running.

Honestly, even a novice can handle it without any problems, and that’s great for a remote installation like in Madagascar.

The test: the speed of light in the bush

And now, the part you’ve all been waiting for: the performance.

You know, in Madagascar, internet access can sometimes be a challenge, especially outside of major cities.

Outages are frequent, and speeds are sometimes frustrating. With Starlink, it’s a whole new world.

From the very first seconds, the difference is obvious. Pages load instantly, streaming videos run smoothly in 4K, and video calls are impressively smooth.

I’ve run several speed tests, and the results are simply astounding: download speeds regularly exceed 100 Mbps, and often much more.

And the ping? Incredibly low for a satellite connection, making browsing and even online gaming a perfectly enjoyable experience.

Whether for working remotely, watching movies, doing research, or simply staying connected with loved ones, Starlink offers reliability and speed that were previously unattainable in many parts of Madagascar.

It’s a real boon for education, economic development, and global awareness for millions of Malagasy people.

My verdict: a connected revolution
