Huh? Oh yes, yes, a short presidential statement in Sainte-Marie that didn’t go unnoticed, when he said that a large part of his discussions at the highest level of government, with the Prime Minister, focused on the Jirama.
There’s a term here in France to describe really crappy used cars: we call them… merguez sausages.
So you’ve been lugging around this Jirama merguez sausage for 16 years, tinkering with it, patching it up… and above all, you really mistreated it 16 years ago (since) wasn’t that right?
I remember it very well; it was really a festival back then. It was an open bar ATM, everyone shamelessly helped themselves to it, lol. We’ll remember, for example, this Minister and his 300 million AR vacation paid for… by the merguez sausage.
We’ll skip over the shamelessly abusive one-sided contracts; everyone was really milking themselves as much as they could; it was horribly mind-boggling.
The result, io izy io 16 years later. Billions of dollars in losses and debts, with monthly fiscal years now in deficit, with expenses far exceeding revenues. I think that’s a deficit of… 3 billion ariary (AR). Per month? No, per day 😳
The merguez, from being so heavily abused, is completely broken today. The production facilities are outdated, the equipment breaks down daily, the coffers are empty, and nothing works anymore.
To return to the analogy, the engine is dead, the rings are worn, the pistons are punctured, the liners are scored, and the valves no longer close.
…but we’re determined to keep the engine running against all odds, patching things up as best we can. In any case, there isn’t much choice; this is the only engine we have.
There was an opportunity to change the engine, to even get two brand-new engines, called Sahofika and Volobe, but some preferred to turn a blind eye because they weren’t the ones who initiated the said projects.
This lack of continuity from the state is paying a high price today.
So, the tinkering with the sausages continued, with the catastrophic results we see today.
So once again, how could those who were the root of the problem yesterday claim to be the solution to the problem today? They’re really daring, aren’t they?

In any case, despite all the current posturing, there’s one reality we must keep in mind: the situation you’re experiencing today, with power cuts and all that, is going to be a problem for at least the next three years.
And by the way, we should also stop blaming the opposition for our petty misdeeds.
The opposition has nothing to do with your ineptitude in conducting state affairs. And when you don’t like criticism, well, you avoid governing with your feet then?
16 years of a continuous descent into the throes of hell. The bad news is that it’s far from over. You tapped the wine in 2009, and the bottle still isn’t finished in 2025.
And you’ll have to finish this lousy swill to the last drop. Cheers to the ary e.
