Huh? Half empty… or half full? 🤣 Answer: It depends on your political leanings.
Where did today’s inspiration come from? In fact, I watched with interest (and right to the end, which is rare) last weekend’s interview with the Director of International Affairs and Presidential Spokesperson, Lova Ranoromaro, on 24h Mada.
An interview which, without bias, finally raises the bar significantly 🤣 She’s protecting her boss, which is normal, but without displaying the horrifying soliloquism we see everywhere.
… and here’s the first thought that immediately came to mind: so what’s this glass like?
From the side of those in charge of filling it, obviously it’s half full. Since they have to refill it drop by drop every day, it’s normal for them to have this “to refill” mentality.
From the side of the plebs, since there inevitably won’t be enough for everyone, conversely, the glass is inevitably half empty.
That being said, saina tsy miangatra, the glass does tend to empty, doesn’t it? The purchasing power that has dwindled over the years, the hellish water and electricity situation? Or the appalling insecurity that is rampant everywhere? This filthy and massive poverty… This widespread corruption?
She addressed, among other things, and in no particular order, the topics of SADC, the Triple 7, the Scattered Islands, the Ambohimalaza tragedy, the 1000 Logs and other TPCs, and international relations.
And one can easily imagine the mountain of work behind it all, trying to fill that damned glass.
…but what about the hellish daily life of the plebs, as described above? All these topics discussed seem light years away from the urgent and critical needs that must be addressed right there, immediately, right away.
Personally, I myself have already experienced this difference in perception. I throw myself fully into a project… only to realize in the end that I was off-topic, way off the mark. Oh, the rage, the frustration, the disappointment… I had actually tried to fill the wrong glass.
Well, to get back to the subject, there are still 33 million thirsty people out there. It’s good to have finally realized that we won’t get out of this if we don’t finally talk about industrialization, agriculture, renewable energy…
But hey… 16 years to realize that? A few years ago, a news user wrote: “Each presidential term must be focused solely on 2 or 3 priority projects.”
By spreading ourselves too thin and trying to solve everything at once… well, in the end, nothing has been solved and, on the contrary, everything has gotten worse. We’re right in the middle of it now.
